CrossFit-is-dangerous

Why compete in CrossFit?

Why do you all want to compete in a lower form? CrossFit is a weak version of weightlifting and powerlifting. A few years ago I decided to come back to my beloved sport of powerlifting. I went online to look up the current numbers for my sport. I see “state record squat” and click on the site. It was a CrossFit site claiming the state record squat and bench press for a USAPL meet. A 125 kgs. body weight CrossFit “cat” (p…y) did a 142.5 kgs squat and a 125 kgs bench press.

WTF! At 275 lbs he did 314 lbs. on the squat and 275 lbs. on the bench press and he claimed state records. First of all these numbers are not state records. Neither is a Maryland state record for either lift at 136 lbs. Give me a break! I happen to know the state record for this weight class, in the squat, is over 1000 lbs.

Hypertension is a disease. This WOD can only be beneficial
for a maximum of six weeks (weaks).

Before I rant endlessly I digress. Why do you all want to compete in a lower level of the sports? If you want to compete, compete. Give the established sports there due respect. Powerlifting has been around since the fifties. Weightlifting has been around a lot longer than that. Every modern Olympics, since 1896, is the history of Olympic weightlifting. CrossFit should be ashamed of themselves.

The part of these sports that I love is the lack of bravado. Make the lift or not. No BS! Stop claiming state records when you compete in USAPL, or USAW, and it is only a CrossFit record. Compete or don’t compete. If you cannot hang work harder on strength not metabolism.

I am certain some CrossFit cat will say something like I eat pizza or I smell like pizza, or I am not lean when they read this. Who cares what you think? Lift or don’t lift. When you cannot hang with the lifters don’t say you are leaner. You are not. Lean is a clinical term which means muscle and bone. If I out lift you I am leaner.

Some of us are serious about our sports. Each sport deserves respect.  I do not lift and say I took a record from track and field. CrossFit, well good luck if you buy this WOD of s..t!
